Hello,
a friend brought to my attention the Midas 8 channels A/D converter chip called the M8000,
it's pretty cheap at around $16, it seems it could be a nice chip to use in DIY projects.

Features

    Advanced Multi-bit Delta-Sigma Architecture
    115 dB Dynamic Range
    24 Bit Conversion
    -105 dB THD+N
Supports Audio Sample Rates up to 216 kHz
Selectable Audio Interface Formats (I2S, TDM)
    Low Latency Digital Filter
Less than 680 mW Power Consumption
    On-Chip Oscillator Driver
Operation as System Clock Master or Slave
    Differential Analog Inputs
Supports Standard I2C or SPI Control Interface

I don't know wich Midas equipment uses this Chip, does anyone knows?

Did anyone ever tried to use it in DIY projects?

"Variant" meaning a new number and no automotive grade?

Certainly the paper-work is a 99% exact copy. Right down to the mA.

While I suppose Midas could be licensing the design and getting it made some place else, I could also see it as a Midas-Brand product fabricated by Cirrus and their usual foundries. Midas money to keep it in production and restrict large sales to Midas competitors.

from the looks of things, Behringer has probably locked in giant order over X years, enough to convince Cirrus to do a datasheet spin and change the marking on the device.

So cynical - no this is an improved pin compatible design. yes OF COURSE the ma are the same. Different part. Much better.
