Modding a Chameleon 7602?

I'm sorry to revive this older thread but I have a pair of chameleons and I was a little curious about modding them as well.

I've actually been pretty happy with them (especially for the price) the eq is great...They are very useful in general.

I wouldn't mind trying out some mods, especially since I can leave one unmodded and compare between the two.

I am extremely unfamiliar with the neve build--ie: which parts were used originally etc.
I'm in the process of changing out the 2n3055's (trying to get a hold of the motorola's as suggested)

As for the tantalum cap replacements---how would I know which caps to change to tantalums and which ones to leave as electrolytics?

Also I wouldn't mind trying out a different output transformer. Again my knowledge of neve parts is extremely limited. I see that sowter makes it---is there anything else that anyone would recommend?

as for the EQ section
there should be some original schematics out there
and it is worthwhile getting a copy of the original schematics that best describes your Chameleon
... just as a reference
these schematics or manuals also come with a parts list
like you can find with our 1081 project ... but I think you want 1073 ??

yes the Sowter is a worthwhile choice and so to are the choices closer to home
