Hey guys... Just finished up my G-pultec tonight... Used a JJ tube,  Lundahl transformers (in and out), and some cheap inductors from mouser... Most of the caps are Cornell Dubilier & WIMA.

Got the Don audio power transformer and it's AMAZING by the way... You should all get your g-pultec stuff from him. Very good service and a great quiet transformer. He has lots of nice stuff for the g-pultec.

The knobs are just some random knobs i found at this sweet store near my house called SAYAL. Found that badass rotary power switch there too.. haha... Don Audio has some way nicer knobs but I had to save money somewhere. I still think these look cool and pultec-ish....

The front panel I got from frontpanelexpress... I edited the file that is floating around on here... (thanks to whoever made that) I just made it bronze anodized and stuck my name on it. Pic doesn't do the color justice though... (camera phone) The bronze anodized looks killer in person. I highly recommend front panel express... I think it cost me about $100ish? Also added a few drill holes so it would fit my circuit specialist case... Punched the XLRS myself with a greenlee and did the IEC with some nibblers...
I didn't bother posting inside pics as there's really not alot in this thing and this case is a bit of a pain to open\I'm lazy.

Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed it...

PS It sounds amazing!!!!

looks good. Hope you learned a little in the process as well.  FWIW, I am not a greenlee punch fan or any punch fan for that matter as unless you have the set they are one size and can be cumbersome. I find it best to have uni bits also know as step bits around. they are easy to handle and do way more sizes usually then a punch kit. but whatever works.

as for the knobs I like them...

For xlr i use a punh i paid 20$ from a Uk seller on E-bay.
At that price its just awesome tool!
Unibits are just too time consuming!

well you got me there. but I sitll stand by my unibits are more flexiable in more hole sizes but potato potatoe I always say

nice build !
i had not too good experience with stepped bits before (tube sockets) i could never align the holes perfectly. i used a punch (or greenlee as you say) only once and thought it was much easier and you could adjust or "correct" the holes alignment when using these by moving the cutting piece before it starts to break through the metal (not sure if i'm clear here) anyways, i do all my metal work in my kitchen with a dremel, yes i live i a small flat, and yes that includes the XLR holes. i use "heavy duty' disc cutters... i know...
has anyone tried "punching" 3mm Aluminium ? most of the punches i found here in france say 2.5mm max on "soft metal" i've been using the modushop rack cases lately and the faceplate on that is 3mm...
sorry, i know this is a bit off topic
thank you !
ps: i want to build a Gpultec !!! :p

I loved the Greenlee punch for the xlr holes! I totally recommend them. (although i'm not really experienced with anything else) I found them easy and the results were perfect.
I wish there was a cheap square one for the IEC, nibblers are a bit of a pain in the ass.

What a busy week... Built the G-pultec, Sound Skulptor Stereo tape Simulator, and 4 x 312 preamps (just waiting for the cases for the apis)

I think I'm addicted to DIY. :(

I think the right tool for the right job really applies here... punches work great on thin stuff, but I like step bits for thicker aluminum, they're super quick, and if you use proper lubrication (as with any type of drilling(that's what she said)), they'll give great results and last a long time.

Great build, Neily!
