So I have a pair of refurbed Symetrix 501s I've been using forever -- can't live without.
I never got around to stereo-linking them, but after selling off one of my VP Dynamites, I'm considering giving these a try on drum bus.
Thing is one of them is using the Valley People TA-101 (same as used in the Dynamite), and the other a dbx 2150a. I kinda' like the slightly dirtier sound of the Valley People. I have access to a donor VCA, and was wondering how realistic it might be for a newb to swap these out (the dbx for the Valley People), or if it needs attention from a more qualified tech?
