I have four NTP 179-120's (two sequencial serial # pairs) and all are inop.

I have the schematics, so just called the local "audio fix-it guy" to get them going. Four months later........no results. And I am not experienced enough to take this on. Time to try something new.

Anyone familiar with a source for repair/calibration of these? Rough idea on the costs? I know the M-100 amp is a bit hard to find, although I did see the schematics posted on the Gyraf site........

Thanks.

Erik

Also, since these have been inop since in my possession-anyone out there have some experience using them? They are well regarded, but I have not heard "what they do well".

I have two NTP 179-150 units and one is broken. I´ve been searching for a way to fix it but I have actually not even found a schematic for it. I talked to a store called Funky Junk in Stockholm and they told me that the FET:s were like 130EURO each, if I could find them. The one that IS working however sound fantastic, in fact so good that I´m actually thinking of fixing the other one no matter what it costs. It would be really great to have stereo...I know that Swedish Radio used theese on many of the large consoles in the 60:s and 70:s and I´ve in fact seen theese in use only a couple of years ago in SR:s studio in Sundsvall in Sweden. They might have schematics and/or spareparts laying around.

Not sounding too promising. Well if my local tech manages to fix them I will let you all know, in case their are more inop 179's floating about.

Thanks for the input.

Neither pair will pass signal when inserted into my desk. At least one pair, maybe both-can't remember anymore- does "activate" the gain reduction meter that is connected to them (Neumann arrangement-the NTP's were a factory option on the SP75 console) and the "limit" light activates on one. We jumpered the connectors to verify that signal would pass and that it isn't a relay issue (or some other)console issue-as the compressors are switched in/out.

Stereo link is wired into the connectors, I believe, but I am not sure if that matters as I flip/flopped the units into the L/R channels...................

Thanks for asking, I'm not sure why I didn't put this into the original post!
