I may be building a couple replacement "transformers" for a pair of older Crown PZMs... usual story, the PZMs were saved but not the accessories, and Crown told the owner they'd happily recycle the remaining parts into scrap metal.

I recall some discussion somewhere where one person was going to build some replacements... was that over on TapeOp (currently defunct forums)? Anyway, searches here didn't turn up the necessary info. I figure at worst I can use the basic electret circuitry, which some web pages suggest.
 
There are quite a few PZM schematics available.

There is one to (maybe) avoid which has bad CMRR - you can tell because of the transistor pair before the output.

I'm often quite surprised by what you can achieve with these mics for the price.
