So try a phase splitter off the source and you should get at least 6dB more SPL handling.
Thanks for the additional tips! What would that phase splitter look like? Can you maybe point me to an example?

Thanks!

On your drawing:

1. disconnect capsule and left R1 conncetion from Zener.
2. Disconnect right side of R1 from left side of C1
3. Connect left side of C1 to connection of the capsule and left side of R1
4. Connect right side of R1 to the Zener (where left side of it was connected)
5. Enjoy!

Oh, OK. I guess that's the same thing as what I already did... like you and Keith already suggested...
...move the + in connection to the other end of R1 (junction with C1 instead of junction with D1)...
I just didn't realize that was a phase splitter.

BTW, sorry I don't have an educated opinion about your phased array. But, my inclination would be to sum them before you amp them.

Thank you Charlie;

I'll try both ways.

To sum before amping is simple: to connect some capsules in series to better utilize 48V phantom power.

But I'm afraid religious people would not understand me if I put some kind of a cross on stage in front of an instrument... :cool:

You know, last week I went back to retest SPL in various configurations, and I think I probably overstated the 6dB gain. More like 2-3dB. I think the 6dB figure came from a circuit I used some time ago that probably had other issues, so the improvement was more dramatic.

Anyway. 2dB is still 2dB . . . :oops:
