My definition of effective disinfo is any narrative that takes our belief in something and gets us to draw a line in the sand over it, and then look for people to cross that line.

Glad to see nyt producing an opinion piece on the power of Russian disinfo. Hope you don't mind the share.

Is there any reason to suppose the other players in the field don't do exactly the same?

From what we know about the CIA, disinformation is one of their daily tools too.

What amuses me, is the fact that these propaganda vids always portray the Russians as almost super-human. You'd almost believe it. Of course, the average Russian has had an education. That explains why they are so good at math, fi.
 
Henry Kissinger said a few years ago that the problem with condemning Russian and other countries is that we do the exact same disinformation in their countries.  It’s a slippery slope.
