hello all,
I am building the hamptone JFET pre from an article in tape op. I was wondering if anyone has used the altec 15356A? it claims to be a 600:600 ohm "bridging" transformer (also called matching or isolation transformer).

Will this be able to provide me a balanced output to my pre? it will look clean sitting next to the altec 15095A (this is the input transformer that scott hampton recommended for a cheap nice sounding xformer)...hopefully it will sound clean too!!

does anyone have any experience with these altec transformers?? stupid question, but how do i know which pin is 1,2,3,... etc?

thanks

Holding the transformer upside down so your looking at the pins, notice the tab on the black or brown tube thingy in the middle of the pins.

pin one is the first pin to the right of the tab. then it just goes in order after that, pin eight ending up on the left side of the tab.

that should work fine for the hamptone.

good luck...
