I've seen many designs around, some using relays, some using bipolar transistors, like in this article from Analog Devices : https://www.analog.com/en/design-notes/overvoltage-protection-in-automotive-systems.html
I found somehow tricky to use a bipolar transistor in the place of Q1 in the article, Ive just tried this on breadboard (with 12V) and it seems to work :
What do you think? is there any possible drawback I didn't notice?
