Greetings Diy community,
I was doing some research on Mic modding while I wait for some CT-12 caps for a C12 build that I want to do, and I came across this mic:

I've had a couple PPA mic's before and was actually pretty impressed with their LD1 mic's that I ended up with. I did a little searching, but I cant find much data on this offering of Mic, but what I did find was a few people saying it's a modded Apex 460/ Alctron style mic, but it has roll off and pad switches, and in general a more Avantone CV12 style appearance. So I guess what I'm wondering is, would this be a good mic body to use instead of the 460? It's a little more money, but the aesthetics of it seem a little better, And I would be happy to support PPA again because they are in my back yard (Seattle company). I could see getting the headbasket and the bottom of the mic chromed easily costing as much as the difference in price (All the pictures of the mic I've seen aside from the one on the website have a chromed bottom cap). Plus the power supply looks like it's built to run a 6072 tube already, and looks nothing like the Apex one. Has anyone had a chance to look at one of these things?
