i thought i wouls share. i'm thinking that these will be a great deal and i'm thinking that i can get these modded if they aren't as good as i'd like.

Sorry, I'm still confused. Is it $140 for the pair w/cases, or just $140 per single mic? That said, kudos to you for putting this together! Too bad it coincides with Fum's Asian venture (check the black market). I'm not sure who I'll buy from, but money talks.

The Tape Op buy seems to still be finding its feet. It looks likely prices will be in the same range for either if the TO one doesn't hit some deeper discount at a higher volume level. I believe Fum's are already on their way if you're in a hurry.

the tape op ones are 2 for 202$ with an aluminum case. that is according to a person posting on the thread. I'm not a regular there so I don't know if this is actually happening or just in the planning..

I'm a Tape Op regular (but not so much since I joined The Lab full time :thumb:) and I don't know what the hell's going on. I don't recall any groups buys or anything too clever over there... although they have organized projects in the past such as CD compilations.

I like the idea of an unbranded one better, anyway. I think I'll wait for Fum and the Lundahl group buy.

Fum's mics won't really cost that much more. Plus if I understand correctly, I think he has ordered a small quantity of replacement ribbons in case any out-of-box repairs are needed, and can possibly get more if we need them. That, along with the detachable cable justifies the extra cost, IMHO.
