i need to take a stereo control room monitor output from mixing console and create a mono summed source to feed an active sub without the active mono summing, that the larger subs usually have, and also send the same signal to the left and right. the sub filtering is being done inside the sub but i was wondering what the pitfalls are in terms possibly loading of the left and right. I think this is going to be simple and straight forward, but i was wondering what you guys think.

Im thinking of having the output of the mixer wired directly to the left and right active speaker inputs, and soldered to the same xlr output of the console a second set of wires going to a passive mono mixing resistor config., then to the sub's input. Am I crazy/ foolish?

I guess Ill just have to do it and see. dont think there is going to be any affect to the left right if i keep the resistors mixing down to mono high enough to isolate it from the un affected left right send. just overly cautious i guess. I just dont want to bleed left and right and narrow my stereo field.
