I bought a few Audio-Technica preamps from a tech recycling store. Hoping for input transformers. No luck. Toa had pretty lame-looking phone-line transformers.

I found a Peavey Architectural Acoustics SMR-6 with 4 channels having mic input transformers. I measured the inductance pri/sec once but didn't put it in a safe place. I could repeat it & extract Z-ratio then n-ratio. But this seemed like a good place to inquire whether anyone knows their +/- attributes.

Purpose is not for anything studio-exotic...making a suitcase amp for my daughter who uses a lavalier ECM on a violin...triode-pentodes, maybe 1-2 low-Z mic inputs, 1-2 hi-Z instrument inputs. Just because I've scavenged enough parts.

I do have a pair of 9-pin multi-shielded 50's 50/200 ohm:grid (can never remember their name...from N.Hollywood, Ca.) that are decent, but the 4 Peavey xfmrs are conveniently on one PCB.

Thanks

Murray

The peavey AA (architectural acoustics) product line is basically for factory/office background music/announcements. The mic input transformers are most likely chinese and of mediocre quality for music.

The mic input transformers inside the AA powered mixers are well shielded with mu metal to prevent magnetic coupling from constant voltage audio output transformers.
