Hey all..I am racking 2 yamaha pm1000's and want to put a switch on the phantom power..what would you reccomend? I was over at digikey but got a little confused!

Ray

ps. Thanks to all who have helped me so far!

Well you can put whatever style switch you want. Make sure it's sealed air tight. Many people reccommend gold leads. Sometimes it's easier to go to smaller shops and distributors. It's easy to get lost on Digikey and other sites that have a million switches and lots of specs...

ya know what i like... is a momentary switch on a latching relay.

Everyboy should get a Digikey catalog (and a Mouser catalog and an Allied catalog too). I've heard people complain that they order stuff and they never know if they're getting the right thing, or how what they get is never quite what they'd expected... With a catalog + the respective website, you can't go wrong. You get to see all the products in a given category right there in front of you, with part numbers, measurements, specs, prices, etc. Then you just type in the part number and hit the BUY button. Done.

And the catalogs are free.

Peace,
Al.

Mostly i use small shops like www.reichelt.de. They do a good quality selection, and then i am shure not to buy some bad stuff.

only for special parts i go to the big ones.

And the small shops are mostly cheaper....

That's almost never true, in my experience... There are exceptions, but for the most part, it's impossible to find parts cheaper than at Mouser.

Peace,
Al.

ugh, even using the catalog and the datasheets on the site, it's still easy to get the wrong thing.

I ordered a part that I thought was a IEC connector with fusedrawer and switch, for about three bucks.

The datasheet and catalog page all showed a picture of the whole thing.

What I actually paid for and received was the fusedrawer. Turns out the whole spiel is $25 or so.

Anyway, I still love mouser. And I figured out that if I order it today, have them ship it USPS, I'll have it day after tomorrow. Can't beat that!

$25 for a fused IEC connector??? That's insane! Something is very wrong.

Try this Mouser part number: 562-719W-0003

EDIT: Now I see you wanted the switch in there... hmmmm.
