buttachunk,

Yes, it should be same as Signetics NE5532.

BTW, the single version NE5534 was from beginning (around 1975) the Philips TDA1034, (non dual version in this time) and If I not remember wrong, Philips purchase the Signetics company in the end of 1970`s and it come to be marketing by Signetics brand under the NE5534 type name.

I'm so sadly..
i'm in Thailand but couldn't find the parts made in thailand
cuz the parts made in Thailand use with hiend products
In Thailand sold made by Sing, Malay, Taiwan, China...
So sad

parts made in Thailand

Note that this often only indicates where parts are packaged. As I understood it the recently made Philips 5532/5534's were made in France. (A fire in chip-factory & no more new production; there was this thread about it here or at TT.)

For some reason the country of packaging (=putting the actual silicium-chip in plastic) is stamped on the package. It's possible that the packaging-factory is not even owned by the chipmaker.

Like: chips fabricated here in the Netherlands can be packaged in Taiwan, get a stamp 'Taiwan' but that factory is externally (or perhaps only partially) owned by Philips.

Buttachunk, did you receive my answer on your PM ? Any luck with RS yet ?

BTW, I encountered a few 5533's a while ago. Nothing special, altough I hadn't seen them in the flesh before. These are 5534's (or were they 5532's, I forgot) in a larger package.

Bye,

Peter

yes i recieved your PM-- i believe RS is out of stock. thank you for the other info-- got me intrigued about these when i found them. i can find a few more where i found these,, probably 50 total.

The warning spread around here wasn't false alarm then. Just too bad they stop producing it - but I'm afraid it'll have been in an IC-process where not much other types would still run in.

Good luck finding more - so good to hear you can get those 50.

can you decipher the date codes on the one pictured ? is that january 1978 ?

No, it'll be fall '97: 9740 stands for 40th week of 1997.

Bye,

Peter

clintrubber, AFAIK the 5533 is the real dual 5534 including the extra pins, hence the lager package. So it's a pretty cool find.

Thanks, yes, you're right. Couldn't find a datasheet right away on the net, but it's nice to still have some of these dusty forgotten places here within Philips (OK, we only have 1 dusty messy place, and it's our dept  ): an old '87/'89 databook listed it.
Let me know if anyone needs scans.

Bye,

Peter
