I just got my new mixing desk setup and I 've got a problem with powering it on and off. The way it is set up it is extremely difficult to get to the back of my speakers and desk to turn them on and off, yet I'd prefer not to leave them on 24/7, and when not in use so I plugged them into my Furman 8 outlet power conditioner to be able to turn them on and off from an accessable point.

Big problem, everyhting turns on at the same time and my mixer takes about 5 to 10 secs to power up and when it does, it POP's my speakers because they are on before the mixer, needless to say I will never do that again.

Does anybody know of any boxes that will fit in a rack and have individual on off switches accessable from the front panel for the outlets?

I looked into furmans power sequencers but at almost $275-$300 seems expensive, but maybe thats my only choice for filtering and switching....

It seems to me that the furmans are probably using the LM3880 power sequencer chip, maybe somebody has built something and had a schemo??

They used to sell computer peripheral flat 'slabs' with illuminated power switches on the front and outlets on the back. Used for powering on and off printers, speakers, etc... probably pick 'em up on eBay or something by now...
