Hi!
i´ve got a 301 and a han - d - mag.
I have read a lot about diffrent techniques to demag heads.
Should i withdraw the handmag after every head or should i run the hole tape path before i take back the handmag?
I dont want to mess up the heads, the handmag is a serious demagnetizer :-\

Isn't the withdrawing thing just so that when you turn it off, it is a long way away from the heads? If so, then pass through everything in one go and then withdraw at the end.

Remove the demagnetizer very slowly from the heads, so that the magnetic field gets lower and lower.
At the end, slowly remove the demagnetizer far away from the tape heads (or whatever you are demagnetizing), and switch the demagnetizer off.

You mean like this:

or like this:

As long as you remove the demagnetizer slowly and switch it off at a fair distance from the heads, you're fine.
(And DON'T touch or scratch the heads!!!)

demag rule of thumb., always remove your wallet away from the demagger. I made the mistake of demagging a tape machine once erased every card in my wallet with a magnetic strip and had to get replacement credit card and bank card.
