Does anyone know what these are called or where to find them? A good example of what I am talking about is in the power supply of the previous API Lunchbox. It's a rod that goes between the actuator and cap of a switch (for this style switch http://classicapi.com/catalog/product_reviews.php?products_id=88). API used it to have the power switch on the front panel while whole supply lived in the back half of the compartment. I need these, help!

Thanks
Don

I have not seen any supplier stocking them.  However, today I have thrown away shorter version of few of them that came out of various hi-fi equipment. I'll retrieve them tomorrow. You can cut  in two and extend with a plastic strip to the required length.

Thanks for the offer. I do have a 3D printer and I could whip something up to work, but I am laying out a board that will be for sale as a kit and if I had a place to get these things I could skip 4 relays and a bunch of hairy routing. 2" would be perfect but anything 1.5"-2.5" would work. Were they fairly modern pieces of gear? What was the make. I am not above calling some hifi brand and seeing if they would sell me 100 of these things.

Anyone else know where these things come from or what they are technically called? I have tried googling everything I can think of.

Can you just use some Delrin or Tufnol rod, cut to length? That's what I have seen used for pots and switches in some older high voltage lab equipment, to keep fingers away from volts.

Another good suggestion. The thing is, I was trying to find an off the shelf solution so that I could put a part# on a BOM and keep it simple. If it is going to be a custom solution then I will have to bite the bullet and 3D print 2 rods for each board sold, or write up a tutorial how to make some Delrin rod extensions. I'll probably just print a solution. I don't think I will be selling a ton of these boards anyway.

thanks

possible to wire the switch or part off the the board mounted to the front or back panel with wire connections? might be easier
Yeah, then we are getting into aesthetic things. I am trying to avoid panel mount toggles. Why?!, you ask. I have a pretty particular look I want this to have and maybe I just want to be my own worst enemy? Wouldn't be the first time.
