Hello. Pardon what may be really dumb questions, but I've been looking at the Forssell schematic for a passive mixing network and a few things about it puzzle me.

Now, is this a balanced design (I'm thinking no)?
What does the first 5k pot do? It appears to put the pot across the pos and neg legs of the balanced signal. Is this correct?
