Quick simple question on Multipole pushbuttons

Guys I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out how a 2 pole and 4 pole latching actually works..
The Alps datasheet proably tells me - but I can't figure it out
Here is the switch layout for a 2 pole latching pushbutton

FRONT
4....1
5....2
6....3

From what I gather is the following true
4 and 1 are common terminals
5 and 2 are NC terminals
6 and 3 are NO terminals

Here is the switch layout for a 4 pole latching pushbutton

FRONT
7....1
8....2
9....3
10..4
11..5
12..6

From what I gather is the following true
7 and 1 are common terminals
8 and 2 are NC terminals
9 and 3 are NO terminals

10 and 4 are common terminals
11 and 5 are NC terminals
12 and 6 are NO terminals

Are all my statements true...
And one more question regarding this...
What relationship do the left and right channels have to each other

Many many thanks - I have been on this for 4 weeks now
Every lunchtime at work - looking at the PCB traces and comparing it to the schematic and then trying to sort out what is happening...
I did try - honest!!
How when I look at the diagram in the datasheet it makes total sense now...
The 2 pin length block moves down one notch when you press it in
Duh - so simple and I just couldn't see it....

What do NC & NO mean.

I am trying to determine if the switches I got are the same as the alps.

I am having trouble tracing the calrec schematic.

NO = Normally Open (contacts disconnected when switch is in normal "off" or rest condition)

NC = Normally Closed (contacts connected when switch is in normal "off" or rest condition)
