I have a couple of these BA-73A modules sitting around. All the talk about the BA-71 got me thinking about these.

Has anyone here used BA-73 as mic amps? I have the documentation for them and the specs are similar to the BA-71 except that the BA-73 provides twice as much gain.

The output transformers on these are twice the size of the BA-71 outputs.

No one seems to know much about them other than how they originally worked in the broadcast consoles.

were they the output amplifiers on the busses in the consoles?

get them hooked up and bring them down!

I'll have to look in my junk pile, but I think I have some of the ba-73's. Unfortunately I don't have any schematics for them.

Dave, I'm pretty sure that's what purpose they served. I do want to get these hooked up and the 71s as well. I'm pretty swamped right now. If I manage to get some time to get these things running I'll get a hold of you.
hi ytrehalf,

I have 4 of these and I've had one going as a mic pre. They are very good.

Very big and all there. Not the the heavy low mid thing of the BA-71.

cheers,

Thanks for the feedback, Lance. I can't wait to have a listen to these amps.
can you post some pics of these units?
Here's an ebay auction with some pics.

These are BA 73b. Mine are BA 73a. I'm not sure what the difference is.
