One of the meters in my Universal Audio LA3A's has gone just after the 12 month warranty expired. Anyway they wanted $225 + postage for a replacement which seems extortionate to me. I am particularly concerned about replacing it as the net is strewn with tales of meter problems with the UA re-issues, I really don't want to pay that sort of money for it or the other channel to go in a couple of years time. James Lugo over at gearslutz said that he had meter problems with all 3x 1176, his pair of LA3A and pair of LA2A re-issues.

My tech has a load of 2nd hand Sifams but they are a couple of mm too narrow and too high, the Hairball meters and new Sifams are the same.

Does anybody know of a sensibly priced meter that will fit or can be modified?

Sorry yes that would be a bit of useful information. The hair spring on the back has snapped and gone out of shape, my tech had a look and couldn't fix it.
