If it's anything like the conversion of a Revox, you'd need to replace the capstan shaft, and use different motor mounts to compensate for the different capstan diameter.

Yeah, and you'd likely go to all that trouble only to realize that 15 ips was the "tape sound" you loved all along.

Really, I wouldn't bother. The slight increase in S/N just isn't worth all the hassle (and doubled tape expense!).
 
I am a 2 track 1/2" that does 30 IPS per manual spec I am not sure as I bought it used and always run it @ 15 IPS when I use it. THe increased bottom and "phatness" in my best hip-hop voice works great for rock and other hard hitting material...
