Hi,

I need to reamp some tracks.
Can i use an api2503L for a reampbox? can you give-me a direction on how to wire them, if they are usable?

Thank you,
Luis

not at all ideal with a 2503 but the attached circuit should work for you.
the potentiometer is optional.

Hello Luis,
like  gridcurrent said it's the 2503 would not be the ideal transformer for a reamp.
I think you would be better in using that transformer in a API Mic Pre style output.

there's nice an affordable options as far as reamps go.

If you live near Lisbon, I have some Neutrik and Edcor transformers for reamp boxes, I bought a few for myself I wouldnt mind help you out.

here is a reamp schematic using an affordable Neutrik NTE 10/3 transformer:

Hey Whoops nice builds you have!

I live near from Lisboa, in ericeira.
The reason i asked about  using the api 2503 is just because i have them laying around, for another projects,  and i tought that maybe they could be used temporarily for this purpose.

I hear good things about the edcor transformers for reamping if you have a spare one, i buy!

Thanks for sharing this design. Im also building a passive reamp over the Neutrik 10/3 transformer, but a simpler one.

I had few questions about this design.
- The 10k resistors at Input do increase the impedance inot proper level?
- When would I need the impedance pot for the input? Can this be left out?
- Why is there a 1n cap (c2) between the volume pot lugs. Im thinking to leave the TONE and output VOL out compeletely.

Thanks

I think R1, R2 and R3 are there to form an attenuation PAD for the input signal, so that the input voltage is reduced

- When would I need the impedance pot for the input? Can this be left out?

The impedance pot changes the load impedance of the input, it acts as an extra tone control, I have it in my units and I like it.
You can for sure leave it out if you want

I think that that CAP is a treble bleed, it's there so that when you reduce the volume you don't reduce the high end frequencies also

I have a schematic of the same circuit without the pots, I will search for it in case you want to do it simpler

here it is the circuit without the pots

I also have the complete original article on this Reamp, it explains how it works, if you are interested in the article PM me your email
