Does anyone have a favorite book on CE compliance, LVD and EMI? Or any web resources?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Thanks, Gyraf. I thought you might be my first response.

Who did you compliance work on your stuff?

We had help from a friend of mine that runs a manufacturing company also.

I dunno' who else could have done it..

Thomas K. - TK - may know more about this..

Where are you located Crusty2 ?

You need to find (google) an accredited EMC/LVD testing lab, these usually also issue necessary certificates. From my experience i know that prices vary by up to factor 3 between the labs, at least here in Sweden.

It is also good know that a product doesn't need to be tested in the country of manufacture. You can very well design and manufacture in France but have it tested and cerified by an accredited lab in Estonia. The cerificates are valid in all EU countries.
There are ofcourse other benefits of having easy and direct contact with a local lab.

Uhh...
I thought CE went away and was replaced by e-Mark testing? With CE testing you just kept your data on file and put the letters on. With e-Mark, you have to submit your data fro approval and you are assigned a product specific number, I thought?

Peace!

I'm in Hawaii, Alex, but most of the manufacturing is being done in Australia. I was told testing in Australia is a lot more reasonable, price-wise, too.

I have been plowing through the links that Jakob gave me and I'm trying to gain an understanding of the requirements (and liablilties) before I speak to a lab.

And SonsofTHunder, from what I understood (maybe wrongly) is that the E-Mark is a strictly automotive thing, which includes car audio products.

The ROHS thing is a new can-of-worms too...

That would make perfect sense since I work in that particular industry.

This one is a racket if you ask me. We all gotta comply though. Its quickly getter much harder to be a manufacturer these days...

Peace!
