If you don't know the Telefunken MC1: an exciting story. This first German subminiature tube especially for condenser microphones was produced as early as 1934. It was far ahead of its time and was only used in a single microphone. It wasn't until after the war that Hiller started working on it again and built special microphone tubes, which then made microphones as small as the NWDR B-M49 (M49) and B-M50 (M50) possible.

The actual statement wasn’t sweeping at all. It was in reference specifically in his Arabella microphones.

I looked just now and see he’s moved past both the EF12k and 5693 in it and is now using the 6ZH8.
