Sad news. He was the man behind Neutrik, invented the Speakon connector, but before that, he was pivotal in the design of the AKG C12 & C24. Sadly, after selling his interests in the company he had founded, he felt let down and cut any communication with the audio community; tentatives to interview him were met with frustrating silence.

I worked with him many times over a couple decades while with Peavey.

He was always looking for new ways to solve old connector problems. Not only making connectors cheaper, but easier to use in manufacturing.  I would always sit down with him during the Frankfurt show to see his new wares.

He is responsible for a long list of connector innovations I won't even try to list, just like I won't try to count how many Neutrik products we used.

He left behind a huge legacy. RIP

JR

I tried to get hold of him about 10 yrs ago and was told that though he would still come into the office every now and then, (he'd retired by then) he was very forgetful.
Bernhard was a good friend of Clem Beaumont, my mike design mentor. His encouragement led to the founding of Calrec and indirectly, my own involvement in microphones.
