decades ago ,
I peered behind Rudy's MM-1000 and noticed he wasn't using any of the Ampex -01 bridging input transformers, he had those octal dummy plugs inserted instead.
I strongly suggested his installation was subject to ground loops and hum. 
His reply: "do you hear any hum?"

I sheepishly had to say "no".

I love the music, the sound, read the name many times on the covers, wasn´t aware of the person, the history.
