Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for strong high quality 19" enclosures with good ventilation (psu build)
I'm looking for something around 3 or 4ru with a depth of 350-400mm

I can't seem to find anything with mesh top and bottom panels, which would be preferred (around 300w to dissipate)

Modushop seem to have some nice looking cases, but they don't seem to do cases with ventilation on all panels..

Looking forward to your responses!

Hi Ian,

Actually it is a bit less (232w) but still quite a bit.
Hoping to avoid the use of fans if possible.

Modushop have units up to 5 units high, like this one:

As you can see they have heatsinks using the full unit depth on both sides.
Just mount your regulators there and you'll be done.
I did that with all of my dual 51x psus,so ten regs per unit!
See att. pic showing an example of a 2 ru psu I did years ago.

I guess Ian is right that you might have swapped dissipation and output power.....?

Udo.

Addendum:

You can get vented bottom and top covers too,Here's an example:

I also always use the inner base plate, cool for mounting your pcbs and transformer(s) keeping ugly screw heads on the inside and gives a good overall stability (made of steel).

Hello All,

Thanks for your suggestions!

Ian - sorry for my ignorance - yes the psu units have an output power of 232w.

I came across this UK made case that has vents on top / bottom / sides.. Steel (hard to drill) but strong i guess...

Quite cheap - although post OS will cost.

Udo -Thanks for the Modushop Suggestion - I was thinking about them, will check it out!

have a look at nrg cases

www.frontpanel.de

the cases are very nice design and quality and have ventilation on the sides, you can get the top and bottom cover made to your requirements so you can add ventilation holes as well
