Hi!

When I clean my pcbs with isopropanol,
can I short the board if I don't wait long enough for it to dry properly?

iirc. pure IPA is not conductive.
you dont have patience to wait it dry? :)
Ok, thanks! Well, I just thought it wasn't conductive, and didn't give it to much thought before I've got som hiss on a pre :)

Yes it can be conductive due to impurities (water etc.). Just wait for it to dry, or use hair dryer when in a hurry. You can even watch it dry with a multimeter. It'll show conduction on +1m ohm area before evaporation.

Ok, thanks! Good to know.
Could such a conduction ruin any regular components?
(IC, caps? ..ssl9k-related. see: http://groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=11320.msg706346#msg706346)

IPA is bad for styroflex caps etc.
but I think that ssl9k-issue is from something else..

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but
imo. if that conductivity is small(ie. BIG resistance)
then "short" from ipa couldnt destroy even sensitive components..

edit. and again this goes for pure ipa, dont know if there something (alcohols/oil/water/etc) added to it:)
