I wonder if they will update the tables of selected components, like the listings of ICs. Almost comically out of date at this point. And that's looking at the 2nd edition.

Thanks for the heads up, have been waiting for this one for a while.
I do wonder how Jim Williams (RIP) managed to review it, unless this book has spent some serious time in pre-release limbo.

pre-ordered! 
I actually had the second edition in my hand a couple of weeks ago, almost ready to go to the check out, something told me to leave it by now, and I'm glad I did!

The Student (formerly lab notebook) follow along, is due in August 2015,
There's an "X chapters" that I haven't seen a date yet...
So far so good, gonna try to cover to cover this in a year.... maybe a couple...
In the 3rd edition preface, it's stated that the 3rd edition was due to the publisher in ....1994.... so it does appear to have been in the works for the last 25 years.
