I have an old studer 089 desk and í want to use it to record from the inserts out on the 12 channels.
But the signal is to low.  the desk is from 1967 and that is why the output is low. The standarts where diffrent back then.
But i need 12ch´s of line amp that can gain 10-20db and still not color the signal, i like the Studers sound.
I dont know what is bedst. I am new to the forum so i dont know much about what´s going on here right now, so sorry if there have been at post with the same last week or so.
I have build 2 G1176 and two  Gssl so im not a total newbee :)

Not really. The +4dBu standard dates from much earlier and is still current. If you explained a little more, we could help you better. Are you recording in a DAW? The problem with DAW's is that one tends to track close to 0dBfs, which is generally 18+ dBu. It is true that any analog mixer is not designed to operate at such a high level, requiring about 10-12 dB more gain than catered for and the VU-meters stuck the right-hand position. In addition, most of the inserts run 6dB lower than the main outputs. So, problem acknowledged, but don't blame the standards :)

Since you operate unbalanced, I think you could easily use a very basic opamp-based non-inverting circuit using a 5534 type (socketed so you can swap them later for one of the newer 49710 family or OPA, LT, or whatever, that are considered to be superior these days).
A 1272 is not neutral enough IMO; may interfere with Studer's own "colour".
Information on your recording system may help.

thanks for answer.
I think the output is -10dBu from the studer desk insert out. The main outs and aux (or reverb sends as they are named here :) ) are ballanced and at +4dBu
the signal routing is:
mic - Studer 089 mic indput - 089 insert out - Soundcraft europa insert/line in - soundcraft dir out - daw (motu 24 I/O). an 2" recorder is comming up at a later time.
The gain step in the europa is high enough. But i want NOT to use the gain step in the europa. therefore i want to use the insert in on the europa and have an eksternal "non color" gain amp.
I can not design it out from my head so i need some diagram to look on.

Many interfaces are switchable +4/-10dB . . . . you could just do that

Yes i could if i was putting the studers insert out direct to the daw. But the signal passes another desk before the daw interface. and it is the two desk between there is the problem. The reason is that i will use the mic pre in the studer, and then use the eq in the europa desk. so the two desk´s have to "talk together" :)
