The mike sucks power through 3.4K. It HAS to drop.
The older Phantom mikes sucked 2mA. This is a 7V drop.
The idea is power In The Mike. We get maximum power with a matched load. 24V on the wire, 7mA.
The modern Phantom spec allows 8mA or 10mA. Some phantom mikes really do suck this much. Not so much power-greedy but current-greedy. 10mA in 3.4K is 34V drop, or to *14*V, and that is how it works.

I misread your post. PRR is right. The voltage at the XLR pins is bound to drop because it is fed via series resistors.
