Small, surprisingly heavy box to tidy up the DC for FX-pedals etc.

The worse your power-adapter, the better this box works...  usually it's not needed, and is just adding weight & additional congestion to pedal-boards.

(Simply buy a better supply instead, but then you wouldn't have a gizmo with 'poo' & 'diamond' graphics... )

Curious how empty or how packed this little box would be inside, so I added it to an order to hit free shipping.

Looks some LCLC lowpass (caps are NP). There's added functionality that indicates the incoming (Phase, err  ;D ) Polarity of the incoming DC.

The blowout-price they now go for seems to indicate that Palmer sure found themselves a niche, as in: nobody seems to need these. Or most people prefer to prevent a problem, instead of adding a bandage.

One possible application that might not be quite the original intention: many of the digital effects can induce noise on a shared power supply line with their integrated switching supplies. So even if you have a perfectly clean main power supply for all your effects, when they are all chained together often problems arise when digital and older analog effects with sparse internal filtering are combined. This box might work well to isolate noisy effects from the sensitive ones. But I agree with your general sentiment, it seems like a hammer looking for nails. At least it's appropriately moderately priced.

Makes sense!

Who knows/in theory it could then even result in a somewhat better isolation when used 'backwards'
(so CLCL iso the original LCLC, when looking from supply to load),
in case the cap at the power source is smaller than those NP filter caps of the Palmer box.

Bye!
