Hello all,

I've got an old Studer A80RC (The mono version) that's doing absolutely nothing in the wardrobe. Everything's working good, transport, sound, etc... But the thing just don't wanna record to tape, nothing prints... Just playback.

Anyway, bought a few Studer cards from eBayers, nothing again... So, I was wondering if something useful could be done with this thing. I heard that the inputs of this Studer are great, could it be transformed in some sort of mic preamps? Or, what about a nice Line amp for a summing box? Any suggestions are welcome...

Kind regards,

Hi Marc, first are you sure its not a palyback only version? If not, then have you checked the record amp is functioning and is signal reaching the record head.

I have a friend in town that has a playback only as well as a record/playback A80. If you want to try could maybe borrow his record amp to see if it works in yours. Let me know.

I don't think a Studer record module is that easily converted to anything that great sounding. Better to try and revive that beast.

Salut

Jim
