Hey guys!

Could you please give me some advice on recapping the Ghost’s PSU?

I have the CPS275 and I wanted to replace the old caps and possibly the regulators to make it more efficient for the few mods I did in my desk.

Should I double the values on the caps? If I do that should I double also the voltage as well as the capacitance?

Should I replace the regulators for something better?

Regards!

Hubert

I have two CPS275 running 24/7 almost 15 years. The only problem I had was the fan control circuit which I bypassed and set the fan to spin all the time.  If you really wont to  replace caps, use same or higher values for capacity and the same value for voltage rating. The PS is based on old LM723, and you can't do much to improve it, it's good as is. As I know, Ghost is usually powered with CPS450 so using CPS275 instead, you have a lot of reserve for your extra mods.

Ok, well I will just go through the normal service and replace at least all the caps. This will keep it running smooth for years to come
