I read in recent posts that some of you guys service
soundcraft ghost desks on a regular basis (ssl tech??)

the ghost does not seem to be as service friendly as
i thought it was way back when i bought it....whatever

i am still happy with it, but after 5 years the insert
points wear out...I do a lot of patching on the board
, especially at the subgroup insert points....

most of the points do not close right anymore when pulling
out a plug causing jumpy volumes on the subgroups...
plugging in the plugs halfways solves tha problem, but is no fun...

seems like they used lousy parts on the inserts...

here´s my question...are the subgroup inserts points easy to
exchange???
what parts should I use for more longlivety??

ps: before I had a behringer mx8000 for some years..lousy board, but
the inserts were more rugged and never failed....

thanks

All of the ghosts here have TT patchbays permanently wired to them, so the insert points never experience any wear.

Looking at the underside of the board with the bottom removed, the inserts, inputs and direct outs are on sub-assembly cards with PC-nount sockets on them. You would need to replace with the EXACT same part, and I would recommend getting them from your local distributor, -it's not somthing that you can use any old socket on and have the PCB pins line up. You might do well to get some complete sub-assemblies.

If you've never been in through the bottom before, remember to remove the headphone socket... that catches a few people out!
