Hey folks,

Just getting ready to get parts for the ssl. Anyone know where to track these down? Maybe a replacement?

Thanks...

Allied - Cheapest

Phillips (Better than TI)

TI - Still good enough for Focusrite, Amek, etc.

I hope this helps!

Of course, at $1 per chip whose complaining anyway.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Phillips chips are significantly better. Although since so many "big names" use the TI ones I would guess they certainly can't be that bad anyway.

Don't they limit the number of samples you can get?

as long as you don't take the piss with your requested quantities, there shouldn't be a problem.

You should be able to get at least 10.

Thanks everyone. I'd found the 'ap' variety (and others), but I wasn't sure if they needed to be ne5532 without a ending letter-coded designation.

You're all great. Again, thanks.

TI's sample program is top notch. Grab some 5532s and some 5534s, they'll send you 10 of each. You can also snag some OPA parts, like OPA2604s, are nice opamps. They only send 5 of those though.

Best part is, the free next day air shipping. It's amazing, you can get the parts for free tomorrow, or pay for them from mouser or digikey and get them next week! :D

They just expect you to buy them by the thousand when you start producing your fabulous new audio widgeter.

that's interesting -- don't see that very often - let me investigate...

Internally with the TI Sample request system, the parts are freely available. I will ask the product group tommorrow whats going on.

They may have found that the NE5532 is a popular part ordered by 'fred in the shed' (a british term for DIY'ers  ) in which case, you will have to call your local product information center.

Find them here: http://www-k.ext.ti.com/sc/technical-support/product-information-centers.htm?DCMP=TIHeaderTracking&HQS=Other+OT+hdr_s_techsupp

there should be a telephone number for you to call and speak to one of the frontline (language not technical specialists) that can order the samples for you.

Just don't tell them that you're going to build 5 units.... and don't tell them any numbers above 5000 -- that way, you stay below radar :D

Cheers
