Hi all:

I have been trying to source an OEM for small condenser products. But have had little luck.

There are a huge amount of large condenser DIY products but only a few for the little guys.
When I say a few I mean like buying just capsules from Oktava and SE or even Neumann.

I'm not looking for the electret type I want a source for real polarizable condenser capsule.  I was wondering is there a company doing for example what microphone-parts is doing but in a small (ok I realize I am getting picky) nickel capsule size? I have contacted some of the chinese manufacturers of measurement type capsules and they want a lot if money for small orders.

I am looking at this because I want to do a DIY M582 type mic. Seems like all the parts are readily available except the capsules. Yes I could go the route of NOS or used capsules but was hoping for something new.

Looking forward to any info.

+1 on this if anyone has any info.

I would add that isolated backplate and capsule connections are most desireable for flexible circuit implementations ie; km54 style or similar.

Seems like most 3rd party options at this point do not have both capsule and backplate connections isolated.

Cheers,
jb

I don't know what is "want a lot" for you and this not a OEM but maybe Rode NT45 capsules will be good for you?
Those are available in retail.

If you want a Ni diaphragm capsule, you are asking for a specialized & expensive item.

Go back to your Chinese suppliers and make them an offer.

For exactly what you want, contact Les Watts https://www.facebook.com/LMWattsTechnology and expect to pay for it.

His SDC has isolated backplate & diaphragm.  If you want singles like this, try Schoeps.

But I think ln76d's advice to get a complete capsule from the better manufacturers is sensible.  I've experience with Rode NT5 & NT45 and they are excellent.

By a lot I mean $600.00 USD around 440.00 Euros. To me that's a lot for an experiment. That may not work out. Also most of these Chinese capsules are targeted at measurement work. I was hoping for something a little closer to the KK54 or M62 style capsule.

Thanks for the replies.

All cheaper than schoeps.
I believe MXL and sE also do separate capsules..

comparable price to oktava.
Rode capsules sounds good, unfortunately their electronic in microphones , in my opinion, not :)

Thanks all. Yeah I am well aware of all the products out there of these types and that is probably what I will do. I actually have a lot of the Rode products already and they are quality kit and affordable. Just took a shot that there might be a something in between these options discussed I was unaware of.

Thanks again ;)

Have you tried contacting Beesneez? I have a pair of their Lulu mics (KM84) and they sound great. They make & sell great large diaphragm  capsules but I don't know if they source or make the small diaphragm capsules but it may be worth sending a message to Ben or Veronica.
