Hi,
I've been lurking for months, trying to soak up what I can. So far I've modded a Bellari RP503 by swapping parts. Telefunken NOS 12AU7, Opa2134PAs' in U1 (pre amp) , U4 & U5 (eq) AD OP275 in U3 (optical compressor) and LT1469 in U2 (appears to be the output). I'm very happy with the mod, it's like a completely different unit. I've also tried 627's on Brown Dog adapter in the U1 socket, but think the 2134 is more musical. I've also tried LM1672INs' and OPA2604PAs', but find them a bit more noisey.
I have an old 12/2 Spirit Folio used in the last live band, back in the day, and tore it apart today, inspected, cleaned it and put it back together. No smoke.
I've found this link: http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=4032&highlight=spirit+folio and this one http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=6897&highlight=spirit+folio

In the first link, ikiru talks about the sip NJM072BL chips, 2 in each channel, that are in it., and the lack of replacement chips. I've used the single to dual opamp adapter-DIP, and it worked great for the 627 opamps. I'm unsure if the product listed as a SIL to dual Op-Amp adapter is the one needed to replace the NJM072BL with perhaps OPA227 or OPA134 chips. Here's the link to the adapter: http://cimarrontechnology.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=25

There are also 10 x TI TL072CP DIP-8 , maybe replace them with 2134s' or 2227s', There are 6 x TI NE5532P DIP-8 ICs' , and they seem to be popular, here.

I have the manual, but it's only got a block diagram, and can't seem to find a service manual online.

Right now there are 3 outs with the stereo master and the one PFL aux. for tracking. It sounded better to my ears than the original 1604 Mackie when A/B'd at purchase. There is enough room at the top of the front input panel to put 8 direct out or inserts ( post fader would be good) if it's possible to do. If the BB chips improve it very much, it would be a fine source of 8 secondary mic pres for just the price of the mod. Does anyone have a service manual for these? It's a one piece mainboard.

Thanks,
mrc
