SSL console: channel VU reading output...

Anyone knows of someone who'd be able to mod the channel metering (VU meters) on a G+ so that you can read the channel output, post-fader (on the individual channel VU's). I know this is not a minor mod though.

VU's usually do tape return input or channel input. Any perticular reason why you want them to be channel output post fader?

I want to see the output of the fader post any eq and dynamics and fader level
But if possible through a switch in the center section. Not by having to use the DIRECT switches. I'm already using the READY GROUPS to monitor what's going to the group matrix (and I'm using all 32 groups anyway). So this would be okay for faders 33-64, but not for the first 32.

o.k. I am still lost. I know what you want bt I an still don't understand why? is it as simple you want to pull fader down and have the vu meter read nothing?

workaround:::: this is on a 9kJ but maybe you can figure it out for the g
rec mode.
group ready mon
line in put to channel
small ffader mon
meter input
small fader out of mix
large fader in mix
lf in routing matrix
rout to itself

this gives the level to the mix on the channel meter

where is keef with all the SSL answers... Yes ther was a broadcast option what it does I have no Idea. I never used it or worked on a G/G+ with it...

it can be helpful to know you have signal before you push the fader up

on or two features of the old Neve units were the use of the fader switches
At the bottom of fader movement there were micro switches that could be set up for

PULL fader against the stop and get Pre Fader Listen
so having some metering there could be helpful in that PFL mode to check levels and signal before the fader push.
Good for Live Crosses etc

Push Fader up and get Remote Roll for tape decks etc.
the tape decks are already cued and check
