I am curious to see what the other circuits of the SSL9k look like compared to cheaper consoles, or to other competing consoles..

so anyone have any other schemos than the preamp, say the EQ sections?

just wondering.. :thumb:

as for the differences in the top stuff and the cheap stuff is the tightness of tolerences. the ssl guys told me that the chips are chosen by strict tolerences and how they interact with each other. there are 4 different opamps in the eq and the ssl guy said that they were critical. also the cheap guys use broad values of the passive components. you never see stuff like 3k32 or 5k11 in a mac%$##@kie.

Hmm, we all know this needn't be so, but to a superficial(sp?) reader it may look like that a design is 'better', 'more special' when it uses odd values...

I guess all resistors obey Ohms law, also those in a Mackie...

Related: why the 1176 uses non-E12 resistor values in some of its RC-supply-decoupling-sections is beyond me...
(like R49, can't imagine it's a critical value for the meter-section)

Usually the 39.4 k etc, 1 percenters, carry a better tempeture spec.

Cheap stuff has it's place, like when a drunken musician throws a beer on your board because he thought you were messin with his levels durring the 1/2 hour git solo.
