Hello,

I intend to make a stereo G7 and I've posted a topic in The Lab. One of the users suggested I should consider using a twin triode for both capsules. Issue here is: performance of the triode and redesigning the circuit. Your design with EF86 is excellent, is there any reason and possibility to change this? I would really appreciate your opinion.

Sincerely, Oliver Dizdarevic Skrabar

NEW:

What cable should I use?! To be specific: Mogami W3172 Highest Definition Tube Microphone Cable is great, but it is a mono cable. I could use Belden Multicore Analog or Mobil or similar and main question is this:

Wich connections can I double? Should I use only one line +160V to both tubes or separate from each PSU, both patterns from one +160V? Is 10k + 2u2/250 enough to separate two tubes? USE ONLY ONE PSU?

For heater and heater ground, should I use (for each) 2*0,22mm (24AWG) or more, since there are 2 tubes? 0,2A current per tube... double heater caps?

ef86 in triode mode behaves different from any twin-triode I'm aware of. It shouldn't be hard to fit two ef86's into a mic housing side-by-side. Running unbalanced out may work, but probably isn't a good idea in all cases.

Hint: Try PF86 in stead of EF86. These are different heater voltage, so this must be set in the supply - but you can (still) get high-quality NOS versions of this at very decent prices.
