Hi,
I'm working in a studio that has a Studer 900 20 channel console.
The console came with normal faders modules and also VCA fader modules with built in compressor. Both of the fader modules could be installed as choice.
The problem is that with the VCA Faders installed there was a huge low end hum introduced in all the console outputs.
With the normal fader modules there was no noise at all.
So at the time with bands booked in to record the only solution was to use those faders.
We would like to have the VCA faders installed and knowing why the desk hums with them. I did some tests and if only one VCA fader is installed in the desk no hum occurs (it can be installed in any channel doesn't make a difference) if a second VCA fader module is installed on any channel then the Low end hum occurs.
Maybe it's a know problem in this desks, maybe there's something that needs to be changed in order for the VCA faders to work properly.
Your help is highly appreciated.
