here is a diy of parts and pieces i had lying around...

on the left-2 channels of 1272 ,with fixed gain on both stages, 5k pad pot, oep's at the input, and some transformers i had to "hang" on the output, and take the output signal from the cap(collector of the output transistor)-

on the right -2 channels of 312,melcor diy, also with oep's ...,and a 12 position gain switch.

all of the outs are unbalanced (i run very short cables to the soundcard's inputs, and can always add output transformers if have the need for them).

also i made a small board for the mic input with pad, phase, and phantom.

power supply is one 0.5A transformer giving +24V,+48V,and +12V for the relays, and another 0.5A transformer giving +/- 18V for the api clones.
it was lots of work.....wiring,fitting things in place(trying to fit in those 4 small mic input boards was a challenge.....),drilling and all the other obvious stuff....But im very happy with the results :))
sound is grreat,no hum ,buzz,or anything like that, and some sweep tests i did with the audio tester showed good results...
i'll try to post samples when i'll have them.

oh, and i still have to do the instrument inputs wich i already drilled on the frontpanel....any sugestion on that one?how to interface Hi Z to the transformer's inputs?
thanks

Looks great!

That's inspiring. Can it make a cup of coffee too?

Someone makes a hi-Z converter for DIY preamps. I can't remember which site it was..... The guy makes power supply kits, pramp kits, etc.

I'll try and remember. The converter was a small IC based pcb.

good idea...stop diying and buy some ready made stuff...
actually it is a good idea,i already have a quote from JLM for a couple of his output transformers for the 1272.....so adding a couple of his Very Nice DI cards(and components)for 28$ each wont hurt me too much....i only have to wait for some money to come in...
thanks for the advice. :thumb:

Joe's stuff goes together so easily that it practically builds itself...

Its kind of scary...
