Does anyone actually sum both channels of a stereo/dual mono buss to just one channel? My console has dual mono buss strips that can both be assigned to either left and/or right via a switch. this means you can select left for both or right for both or as I usually use them, left and right respectively.

How about PFL on buss channels? Solo?

Would you rather have mute via Jfet or relay?

how about the switch type? toggle or pushbuttons?

If you haven't guessed already I am working on simple summing buss channels. DOA w/servo output etc.

Any features that you might like, post them here and I'll take them into consideration.

The front end could be simply passive or could be active through matched BJTs ala SSL and others.

Although this is for an Alesis X2 frame, interconnecting cables and grounding bar, the design should be easy to get working in just about anything.

More on this later..

Sure...I'll say: go for the pushbuttons

No but seriously, what are you going to use this summing mixer for?
Are u designing the entire mixer or only the summing busses?

Will it all be done with GainBloaks? (i've read somewhere you're building 24 of them right?) And if so, what about the heat? I mean, they do get very hot right?

Yes I am working on multiple types of channels, mainly the bussing channels right now. I'd rather use pushbuttons myself too.

I am planning on using Fetbloaks in mine but the footprint will fit most any DOA. I am also trying to keep the number of gain stages down to a minimum too since they will all be DOA. caps are a no-no too if I can help it.

I've had the bloaks get hot in certain applications but in another they run perfectly normally. I'm sure it's in the details.. oscillation and such.
