Maybe I'm a dunce, but can't I just buss the ground and wire up a DPDT switch?

The only issue with bussing the ground would be switching amps right?

+1 to what Brad said.

Some amps use differential drive, some even ground the positive and drive the negative lead on only one of two channels to squeak a little more power from the amp power supply.

PS: why would you want to buss (kiss) your ground? If you confirm the speaker - lead is really grounded on both amps you could bus (common) it.
