Tascam 244 Portastudio

Hi guys I bought a Tascam 244 few years back and it had a problem with the cassette mechanism so I put in new belts but it doesn't record or erase. Any suggestions to repair this problem would be very helpful since I don't have the schematics for the machine. I have the owner's manual but it only have block diagrams. If anyone have the schematics for the Tascam 244 could you share it with me.

The symptom sounds like the bias oscillator (high frequency sine wave) may be malfunctioning.

How can I check the whether bias oscillator is working properly. Do I need to make adjustments to the calibration. I don't have a calibration tape with me.

an oscilloscope might be useful...

I also heard that we need to use Type II tape in this machine. Is it necessary or can I set the adjustments to a normal tape

The tape type could affect frequency response but it should still work.
