I'm an absolute "silver lining" guy, but there's tons of mud splattering on the "collective" fan these days.
There is an ongoing, concentrated, all-out assault on The Constitution, The Founding, and the Federal system in the US. It is coming from multiple directions without and perniciously, deliberately perniciously, from within. It's not a theory, you can see it happening all over.
Evidence: this thread questions the Electoriums College! And the later Common Core analysis of the electorate of US Americans. Golly! Such attacks are 21 months early, so it is not time to batten-down the hatches but to figuratively rip-off the hatches and start swinging heavily at the wreckers.

PS: NYC has been a place of dystopia over the last two years. For free you can experience "Dystopialand!" in Penn Station between 7th and 8th Ave's. It used to be an underground 1/4 km of tons of people, bars, pizza joints, restaurants, etc. and now it is a grey-painted plywood tunnel with billowing plastic drop cloths with sheeple schlumping back and forth. It's FREE!
Orwells 1984 was suposed to be a warning, not a guide....
